What are Cosmetic Injectibles?

Rejuvenating injectable skin treatments are a revolutionary development in the cosmetic industry. Injectables allow for wrinkle and facial line treatment without surgery. These non-invasive treatments are used to reduce wrinkles and improve skin contour. These immediate and effective treatments can be performed within minutes.
Injections are a less invasive alternative to facelift surgery, smoothing frown lines, crow’s feet, and other signs of aging, producing a more youthful and vital facial appearance.

Questions

About Cosmetic Injections

Unwanted facial wrinkles and lines can be reduced with the use of cosmetic aesthetics.  As we age, we lose the elasticity in our skin, thinning lips, as well as the volume in and around our cheek and eye area.

Cosmetic injections such as neuromodulators (Botox, Nuceiva, Dysport) and dermal fillers, not only improve the appearance of aging but are also commonly used as preventative measures. To achieve the best results, experienced medical injectors will frequently use both neuromodulators and fillers.

How does it work?

Botulinum toxin type A is given by intramuscular (IM) injection to weaken muscles in the face and lessen the lines associated with facial expression. The toxin relaxes the underlying muscle and allows the skin to flatten out.  Neuromodulators last for 4-5 months on average.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are medical products that are injected into the tissue to fill lost volume and enhance features. There are many areas of the face that can be injected with dermal fillers for aesthetic enhancement. The most common areas to treat are the lips, cheeks and nasolabial folds, as well as under the eyes. There are various types and brands of dermal fillers available in Canada.
They are made in a lab from non-animal products and have a high safety profile when injected properly. Hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary and last anywhere from nine to 24 months, depending on the filler used and where and how they are injected.
